As a threaded connecting pipe, stainless steel pipe fittings must be threaded in production and processing. Therefore, it is not necessary to tap or sleeve the threads when processing the threads. When processing stainless steel pipe fittings, attention should be paid to many aspects, and various problems will also be encountered in the process, especially stainless steel. So how should we analyze and solve it?

The internal threads on stainless steel pipe fittings are usually tapped. Due to the high viscosity and poor chip breaking performance of stainless steel pipe fittings, it is easy for chips to scratch the workpiece thread or the tap to break during tapping, which affects the processing efficiency and thread quality. In order to prolong the service life of the tap and improve the thread processing quality, the following points should be noted.

(1) Better tap material shall be selected. The wear resistance and toughness of the tap can be significantly improved by adding special alloy elements to ordinary high speed tool steel.

(2) The wear resistance, heat resistance and lubrication of the tap can be significantly improved by coating the tap thread with titanium nitride coating.

(3) Increase the front angle of tap appropriately. However, it should be noted that if the front angle of the tap is too large, it is easy to cause the tap edge to break and the thread to be tapped to be multi ribbed when withdrawing the tool.

(4) Properly increase the tap backhoe. However, it should be noted that if the backhoe amount is too large, it is easy to cause the chip to be inserted into the rear angle of the tap when withdrawing the tool, and the thread finish is poor.

(5) The tool heat treatment method shall be reasonably selected to give consideration to the hardness and toughness of the tap.
